Reprocessor in the Seyfert galaxy Ton S 180

چکیده
We discuss the hard X-ray properties of the Seyfert galaxy Ton S 180, based upon the analysis of ASCA data. We find the X-ray flux varied by a factor ∼ 2 on a time scale of a few thousand seconds. The source showed significantly higher amplitude of variability in the 0.5–2 keV band than in the 2–10 keV band. The continuum is adequately parameterized as a Γ ∼ 2.5 power-law across the 0.6–10 keV band. We confirm the recent discovery of an emission line of high equivalent width, due to Fe K-shell emission from highly-ionized material. These ASCA data show the Fe line profile to be broad and asymmetric and tentatively suggest it is stronger during the X-ray flares, consistent with an origin from the inner parts of an accretion disk. The X-ray spectrum is complex below 2 keV, possibly due to emission from a blend of soft X-ray lines, which would support the existence of an ionized reprocessor, most likely due to a relatively high accretion rate in this source.

BeppoSAX observations of Mkn 3: Piercing through the torus of a Seyfert 2 galaxy
A newBeppoSAX broad-band (0.6–150 keV) spectrum of the Seyfert 2 galaxy Mkn 3 is presented. The spectrum provides a direct measurement of a large, neutral column of gas with NH ∼ 1024 cm−2 in the source direction. The source, as bright as 3C 273 above 10 keV, has a steep (Γ ∼ 1.8) spectrum without any evidence of a high-energy cutoff up to at least 150 keV. At lower energies, the data are best ...
متن کاملA ug 2 00 1 X - ray Spectral Variability and Rapid Variability of the Soft X - ray Spectrum Seyfert 1 Galaxies Akn 564 and Ton S 180
The bright, soft X-ray spectrum Seyfert 1 galaxies Akn 564 and Ton S180 were monitored for 35 days and 12 days respectively with ASCA and RXTE (and EUVE for Ton S180). These represent the most intensive X-ray monitoring of any such soft spectrum Seyfert 1 to date. Light curves were constructed for Ton S180 in six bands spanning 0.1–10 keV and for Akn 564 in five bands spanning 0.7–10 keV. The s...

We present the results of the Suzaku observation of the Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC 4507. This source is one of the X-ray brightest Compton-thin Seyfert 2s and a candidate for a variable absorber. Suzaku caught NGC 4507 in a highly absorbed state characterized by a high column density (NH ∼ 8 × 1023 cm−2), a strong reflected component (R ∼ 1.9) and a high equivalent width Fe Kα emission line (EW ∼ 500...

We present spectral results from a multi-satellite, broad-band campaign on the Narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy Ton S180 performed at the end of 1999. We discuss the spectral-energy distribution of the source, combining simultaneous Chan-dra, ASCA and EUVE data with contemporaneous FUSE, HST, and ground-based optical and infra-red data. The resulting SED shows that most of the energy is emitted in ...

We present results from a coordinated XMM-Newton+NuSTAR observation of the type 1.8 Seyfert galaxy IRAS 13197-1627. This is a highly complex source, with strong contributions from relativistic reflection from the inner accretion disk, neutral absorption and further reprocessing by more distant material, and ionised absorption from an outflow. We undertake a detailed spectral analysis combining ...
